The memo ”Guide for the Art Trade” lists the most important provisions of Swiss cultural property legislation relating to the art trade. Duties of diligence applying to trade with cultural property are once again provided for further clarification in the document “Duties of diligence”.

Specifically, a declaration on the right to dispose is one of the duties. The right to dispose is a written confirmation by the seller that he or she may legally dispose of the object in question. The specialized body has published a sample declaration and added it to an accompanying letter to sellers abroad explaining the significance of the right to dispose.
