Sigurd Leeder – Traces of Dance exhibition

A further Dance as Cultural Heritage project is being launched as part of "Zürich tanzt". The exhibition "Sigurd Leeder. Traces of Dance" will be on show at the Museum of Design in the Toni-Areal from 5 May to 30 July 2017. The vernissage is on Thursday 4 May.

Sigurd Leeder (1902-1981) taught in Herisau from 1964 to 1981 and was a key protagonist and educator in the field of expressive dance. Today, his estate is held by the Swiss Dance Collection. Andres Janser, curator at the Museum of Design, has put together the exhibition together with the Swiss Dance Collection and with the support of Karin Hermes, initiator of the Leeder project. At the vernissage at 7 p.m. on 4 May Karin Hermes, Marco Volta and Zurich University of the Arts students on the BA Contemporary Dance course will perform excerpts from the dance works of Sigurd Leeder.
