MIMOS – Swiss Performing Arts yearbook 2022

The MIMOS yearbook on the winner of the Swiss Grand Award for the Performing Arts / Hans Reinhart Ring 2022, Barbara Frey, is being published to coincide with the 10th edition of the Theatre Encounter.

A multilingual volume on the principal honour in the Swiss Performing Arts Awards is published annually in association with the Swiss Association for Theatre Studies (SGTK). The current volume in the new MIMOS Swiss Performing Arts yearbook series is dedicated to Barbara Frey. Designed by Adeline Mollard, it is edited by Paola Gilardi, Anne Fournier and Andreas Klaeui. It includes an interview with Barbara Frey and the author and long-time comrade Lukas Bärfuss, a look back at Frey's ten-year stint at the Schauspielhaus Zurich, and analyses of selected directing work by Barbara Frey, including “Automatenbuffet” (which was staged at Vienna's Burgtheater in 2020 and invited to the Berliner Theatertreffen in 2021). Other former colleagues contribute insights into Barbara Frey's way of working, which is shaped by her deeply-held conviction that theatre only works as a socially engaged art form. The book can be purchased for a special reduced price of CHF 25 at the launch. For more information, see: www.schweizertheatertreffen.ch. Information on the whole MIMOS series and free downloads of past editions are available from the Verlag Peter Lang at: Peter Lang Verlag | MIMOS – Swiss Performing Arts yearbook.
