Selection process
The Swiss Music Prizes reward outstanding and innovative Swiss musical creation and contribute to its visibility. Each year, the Federal Office of Culture entrusts ten experts in the field of music with the nomination of up to 100 candidates from all regions of Switzerland and across various musical disciplines. The candidates are then referred to the Federal Music Jury.
In the beginning of the year, the sevenmember jury selects the winner of the Swiss Grand Award for Music and the ten winners of the Swiss Music Prizes as well as the Special Prizes for Music. The Swiss Grand Award for Music is endowed with CHF 100 000, each of the
Swiss Music Prizes with CHF 40 000, and each of the Special Prizes for Music with CHF 25 000.
