As in previous years, the Swiss Theatre Awards will be presented during the Swiss Theatre Encounter, which this year marks its fifth edition. As it celebrates this small anniversary, the festival – which once again takes place on the last weekend in May – is looking to establish itself as the national get-together for the Swiss theatre scene. The seven outstanding theatre productions from all parts of the country selected by the Theatre Encounter’s curatorial board complement the federal awards, which go to individuals and institutions for their contributions to the dramatic arts in Switzerland. The productions will be hosted by the Schauspielhaus Zürich at its Schiffbau and Pfauen venues as well as the Bernhard Theater. A fringe programme for theatre professionals runs at the Neumarkt Theater.
