In making this year’s selection, the jury focused on theatre practitioners who make a sustained contribution to the Swiss scene and culture practitioners who make theatre accessible and enable it to succeed. The wildwuchs festival facilitates encounters between people with special characteristics and interested audiences. Production director Gabi Bernetta has been working behind the scenes for many years, nurturing an environment in which artistic creativity can flourish. Theatre director and networker Anne Bisang has been a combative and emancipated champion of theatre in French-speaking Switzerland for 30 years, and was the youngest and first female director of the Comédie de Genève. Actor and director Oscar Gómez Mata has been carving out a distinct directorial style for two decades, creating theatre that blends comedy with earnestness and humorous directness with critique of capitalist society, while Ruedi Häusermann has been a pioneering figure in musical theatre for 25 years, bringing folk music to the theatre stage with his Kapelle Eidg.
