Special Dance Award 2017 goes to AIEP / Claudio Prati & Ariella Vidach

The FOC Special Dance Award 2017 goes to AIEP / Claudio Prati and Ariella Vidach from Ticino in recognition of their pioneering work with interactive technologies and their long-standing commitment to cultural policy in the region.

Claudio Prati and Ariella Vidach set up AIEP - Avventure in Elicottero Prodotti in 1988 to explore new technologies in contemporary dance. To date they have created some 20 choreographies exploring communication between human and machine using various motion capture processes and interactive technologies. The duo receive the Special Dance Award 2017 not just for this pioneering achievement in Switzerland but also for their long-standing commitment to the performing arts and culture in Ticino. The award carries prize money of CHF 40,000.
