The Outstanding Male and Female Actor category has been incorporated into the five Theatre Awards. The aim is to further concentrate the awards and recognise within this category a whole spectrum of artistic achievements in theatre, such as acting, directing and stage design. The awards carry prize money of CHF 30,000 for individuals and CHF 50,000 for institutions.

Barbara Frey has been head of the Schauspielhaus in Zurich since 2009. Germain Meyer is a theatre mediator in Jura who initiated Switzerland's only school certificate course in theatre in Porrentruy. 400asa are one of Switzerland's most innovative independent companies, and extend their exploration of contemporary storytelling to outdoor spaces, film and games.
