A veritable European dynasty, the history of the House of Habsburg was intertwined with European historical events for centuries. Palaces, castles, monasteries and museums open to the public bear witness to the role of the Habsburgs in European affairs. The most eloquent reminders of the Habsburgs in Switzerland are the Habsburg and Lenzburg castles.
