Via Francigena follows the route taken by Archbishop Sigeric of Canterbury in 990 for his inauguration in Rome. The route crosses England, France, Switzerland and Italy, enabling the traveller to rediscover the territory and history of the different regions. With 13 stages between Sainte-Croix and the Great St. Bernard Pass, Switzerland is an integral part of this famous route.
