Reporting requirement for on-demand services

Since 1 January 2017, all Swiss and foreign companies that offer films on-demand against payment have had to report the annual number of viewings to the Federal Statistical Office.

On 1 January 2024, the reporting requirement for on-demand services, which had been regulated by the Film Ordinance FiV since its introduction, was replaced by the Ordinance on the Quota for European Films and Investments in Swiss Film Production FQIO (FQIO art. 27; FiA art. 24i). From 2024, the reporting requirement will also apply to series in addition to feature-length films.

Reporting of viewings 2023 will continue to be carried out in accordance with the Film Ordinance FiV.

The companies concerned must register with the FOC before reporting data for the first time. Registration is carried out at the same time as that concerning the investment and quota obligations (see subpage "Registration").
