The Swiss Grand Award for Theatre / Hans Reinhart Ring 2019 goes to the Geneva-based performance artist Yan Duyvendak in recognition of his committed work that crosses the boundaries of disciplines.
Further awards go to director Thom Luz, actor and director François Grémaud, set designer Dominic Huber, actor Bettina Stucky, and Vania Luraschi, pioneer of theatre in Ticino.
This year’s Schweizer Kleinkunstpreis has been won by the cabaret duo Knuth and Tucek. Marjolaine Minot and Nicole & Martin were also nominated. The award was presented at the opening of the 60th Swiss artists’ fair on 11 April in the KKThun.
This year’s winners were announced on 25 April and a joint celebration will take place on 24 May at the Théâtre du Crochetan. Free tickets can be reserved via the website www.crochetan.ch.
The sixth edition of the Swiss Theatre Encounter takes place in Valais in late May at four theatres: the Théâtre du Crochetan in Monthey, Théâtre de Valère in Sion, TLH in Sierre and La Poste in Visp.
The book on Yan Duyvendak, this year’s winner of the Swiss Grand Award for Theatre / Hans Reinhart Ring, is being launched in Geneva on Saturday 7 December 2019.
The next Schweizer Kleinkunstpreis presentation ceremony takes place on 16 April 2020, once again marking the opening of the Schweizer Künstlerbörse artists’ fair in the KKThun.
