The fourth edition of the Swiss Theatre Encounter took place in four Ticino theatres from 25 to 28 May, following the presentation ceremony, with the LAC and the Teatro Foce in Lugano joined by the Teatro Sociale in Bellinzona and the Cinema Teatro in Chiasso. Eight productions from all parts of the country as well as half a dozen fringe events attracted numerous members of the theatre scene and theatre lovers to the south of Switzerland.
This fourth edition brings to an end the first "grand tour" through all the language regions of Switzerland. Theatre practitioners from all parts of the country took advantage of the fine weather in Switzerland's sunshine canton to discuss and exchange at the national theatre meeting. A high point of the fringe programme was the round-table discussion organised by the Swiss Society for the Dramatic Arts marking 60 years of the Hans Reinhart Ring, with Omar Porras, winner of the Swiss Grand Award for Theatre / Hans Reinhart Ring 2014, the 2007 winner of the Hans Reinhart Ring Giovanni Netzer, 1990 winner Gardi Hutter, and Andreas Klaeui, member of the jury of the Berlin Theatertreffen, taking part. The presentation by the interdisciplinary research project "DisAbility on Stage" included the work of Theater HORA, last year's winner of the Grand Award for Theatre. For the first time, 15 young theatre practitioners took part in a Swiss Theatre Encounter bursary programme, following and offering a critical take on the entire festival programme.
